1971 FORD 429 COBRA JET ENGINE
This is a 1971 429CJ engine with 4 bolt main caps. The cylinder block casting number is D0VE-A. THIS IS A VERY RARE AND SPECIAL ENGINE. It is a dealer service replacement engine. That means it has NO DATE CODE stamped on the front of the block and NO VIN NUMBER stamped on the back. THIS MEANS THAT IF YOU OWN A 1971 MUSTANG, CYCLONE OR TORINO THAT IS MISSING THE ORIGNAL ENGINE, THIS WOULD BE THE CORRECT ENGINE TO INSTALL. YOU COULD EVEN STAMP THE CORRECT INFORMATION ON THE ENGINE TO FURTHER ENHANCE YOUR RESTORATION!! The casting dates are all correct and match the 1971 model year. The engine has been completely checked, cleaned and rebuilt to original specifications by Lou Bengivenni of LRB performance. LRB completely assembled the short block, I installed the heads, timing cover and damper. Lou of LRB performance has been involved in auto racing up and down the east coast for decades and has become a bit of a legend in the rebuilding and modifying of high performance engines for the racing community. Lou and his machine shop are featured in chapter five of the performance engine building book in the pictures. The engine does not include pushrods, rocker arms or oil pump. (The new owner can install their preference). The valve covers, intake manifold and oil pan are temporarily installed for pictures. I have put a light coat of paint on the engine to keep it from rusting, purchaser can put a final coat using the paint and color of their choice after final assembly.
